(CBS) Osama bin Laden has shown up again on videotape on Arabic television.

Al-Jazeera showed a series of clips from what appeared to be new videotapes from bin Laden's al Qaeda network. In one, bin Laden and his top deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, kneeled side-by-side. Only al-Zawahri was shown speaking.

Al-Zawahri was shown claiming the Sept. 11 attacks as a “great victory” in a brief video excerpt aired Monday by the pan-Arab satellite station Al-Jazeera.

Al-Jazeera said it would air the complete tapes Thursday. An Al-Jazeera official said the tape was received a few days ago at its headquarters in Doha, Qatar. It was not immediately clear when the tapes were made or how the station, known for airing bin Laden statements, received them.

White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told CBS News in Washington the airing was the first the White House knew of the message. Fleischer said there was no way to determine the authenticity of the tape since, from what was seen, there was nothing on it to confirm the date of the taping.

Al-Jazeera also showed a man identified as one of the Sept. 11 hijackers speaking to the camera in a style similar to that in videotapes made by Palestinian suicide bombers before attacks.

An Al-Jazeera subtitling identified the man only as Alghamdi. The FBI has identified two of the 19 hijackers as Hamza Alghamdi and Ahmed Alghamdi.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
