Jabber's English Note---SARS and quarantine

Recently, almost everybody is talking about SARS. Of course, oversea Chinese has more concern over the SARS cases in China.

If we read some English reports about this contageous desease, however, we will see a lot of interesting things. For me, at least, there are some interesting English words I did not know before, or I knew it but I seldom used it.

The word "quarantine" is a typical example. I did not know it, frankly speaking. In China's Tianjiang, there was a riot simply because the villagers did not want the SARS carriers quarantined near them.

If we don't learn how other people use English, we may think of some English translation for 隔离, such as "separation". Unfortunately, that's not good.

A quick question: Anybody in this forum has been quarantined? (Just for practicing English. Do not take it serious.)
